Bhutan Trust Fund for Environmental Conservation (BTF)

JSW-OESA WINNER 2025

BTF is the world’s first environmental trust fund. Over the last twenty-five years, the BTF has been instrumental in sustaining Bhutan’s protected area network and continues to fund key conservation projects across Bhutan. BTF is the only national institution accredited to both the Green Climate Fund and the Adaptation Fund and remain poised to deliver consequential benefits for Bhutan’s environmental conservation efforts.

Past Awards

The Jigme Singye Wangchuck Outstanding Environmental Stewardship Award (JSW-OESA) is conferred once every two years. It honours individuals, groups and institutions from all backgrounds for a lifetime of contribution towards ensuring the security and sustainability of Bhutan's pristine environment. It particularly merits people who have gone beyond the normal call-of-duty in their service towards environmental protection.
